Tag der Wiedervereinigung ~ German Reunification Day~ 3 October 1990
A year of remarkable events in Europe, beginning with the fall of the Berlin Wall on 9 November 1989 and culminating with German Reunification Day on 3 October 1990, marked the official beginning of a new era.
In celebration of this significant event while living in Germany, Marsha Cheney created a pen and ink drawing that features two historic German gateways, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and the Old Bridge in Heidelberg, at last united under one German flag.

SCHLOSS HEIDELBERG
Situated in the Bavarian Alps of Germany, Neuschwanstein is the most famous of three royal palaces built for Louis II, also known as Mad King Ludwig.
Begun in 1869 and left unfinished at Ludwig's death in 1886, the castle embodies 19th century romanticism.
Ludwig envisioned a fanciful medieval castle with towers and spires atop an immense granite structure spectacularly set on a high point over a river gorge.
Neuschwanstein Castle has become one of the most popular tourist sites in Germany.
